Non Series #7 - The Minute Man Cook Book
There are three Minute Man Books.
The text of the books is basically the same except for a few different
ads. One main difference between the books however is that the 1904 and
1906 books were published by the Whitman Grocery Store in Orange,
Massachusetts whereas the 1909 pamphlet was published by the Minute
Tapioca Co. Throughout the pamphlet there are a number of ads for these
companies.
Apparently John Whitman purchased the rights to a pudding sold door to
door by a Boston housewife, Susan Stavers. He renamed this produce
Minute Tapioca and built a factory in Orange to produce it. See http://www.americancenturies.mass.edu/collection/itempage.jsp?itemid=4576.
This is the connection between the two publishers of this little
pamphlet.
